13 Great Benefits of Eating Avocado Seeds

The Benefits of Avocado Seeds

By Dr Paul HaiderHealth-benefits-of-avocado-seeds
Everyone knows about Avocados… but did you know that Avocado Seeds are full of great health benefits?
Avocado Seeds have more antioxidants than most fruits and veggies on the market and polyphenols like green tea, plus they are full of more soluble fiber than just about any other food. — Wow!
In fact Avocado Seed has 70% of the antioxidants found in the whole Avocado, and Avocado Seed Oil is also full of antioxidants, lowers cholesterol, and helps fight off disease. And studies show that Avocado Seed has more soluble fiber than oatmeal and just about any other food. Avocado Seed helps to prevent cardiovascular disease, lower cholesterol, and prevent strokes.

http://www.wisegeek.com/can-i-eat-avocado-pits.htm

Before you eat avocado pits, you may want to dry them. This can be accomplished by setting them on a dry, sunny windowsill. It will usually take several days for a pit to dry completely.
Avocado are stone fruits. This means that they have very hard seeds, or pits, similar to stones. Avocado pits must first be broken up or ground up into a powder before they can be eaten.
Tossing an avocado pit into a blender could ruin the machine. Instead, you may find that smashing it with a hammer makes it easier to grind it up. You can also cut the pit up before you grind it up.
To smash avocado pits before you grind them, put them in a heavy-duty plastic bag and smash them with a mallet or hammer. Putting a heavy towel over the bag will help prevent the bag from tearing. The avocado pit pieces can then be ground up in a heavy-duty blender or food processor. This should result in a fine powder.

Simply take the seed from the avocado like normal and then knife it into quarters. This is much easier than it would seem. After that, the bits of seed can be thrown into a food processor, grinder or powerful blender to make powder. (Be sure the machine is up to the task). The resulting powder will be bitter and full of tannins, so it’s best use with other strong flavors, say in a green smoothie or juice, that’ll mask it a bit. About a half a seed is enough for one solid serving, and the other half can be saved for next time.

War of Drugs vs Natural Nutrition.

Drugs and processed foods are killing us.  The best food is that grown locally.

We should embrace micro nutrients, calcium, magnesium, vitamin C, vitamin K, grass fed meat and local produce.

We should avoid, smoking, stress, food that's been shipped, factory produced meat, prescription drugs, and pollution.

Serendipitous story of finding the book Golden Years of the Jefferson Ward

I call this serendipity. I'm the ward historian in my LDS Church ward. Someone brought a history of another ward from 1924 to 1974 I guess as an idea on doing a ward history. Anyway I thought I would just look it over but they wanted me to take it home. So being the pushover than I am that's what I did. I was looking though it and found the wife of my uncle. In fact it even has his name in it after they married. It mentioned my aunt several time and other member of her family. It even has this picture. When this happens, and it happens to me occasionally, I call it serendipity. Could be good luck. Divine intervention. Whatever you call it it brings positive things in your life. Aunt Lois did not even know that this book existed. It is downloadable at FamilySearch.org The Golden Years of Jefferson Ward.

Mormonism has powerfully impacted art in Utah, speakers say.

http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865630530/Mormonism-has-powerfully-impacted-art-in-Utah-speakers-say.html?pg=all

This article was originally published apparently Thursday June 11th on the Deseret News website.  It was republished in the following edition of the Church News.

Philo Dibble is one of my 3rd great-grandfathers.  He is one of three mentioned as having influenced art early in Utah.  Philo had an art show he traveled Utah with and lectured or invited others who were involved in the early history of the LDS Church to help give lectures.  He charged about a fee of twenty-five cents to view his art.

Philo was not the artist but he was the one who displayed the art and often gave the lecture.  He commissioned artists to do paintings of scenes in early LDS Church History.

The traveling art show was only one facet of Philo's life.  He owned property in Nauvoo, Illinois where the current LDS Visitor Center is located.  He or his wife has real estate and did some buying and selling.

Philo was wounded in the Battle of Crooked River in 1833 in Missouri.  He was told by a doctor that he had never seen anyone live with that bad of wound.  He was not expected to live the night.  He was given a Melchizedek Priesthood blessing and immediated coughed up blood, cloth and such.  The next morning he was up and about the countryside.

When Philo's first wife died Joseph Smith suggested a widow Smith as a candidate for marriage.  Joseph performed the ceremony and Joseph's wife Emma Smith provided the wedding party.

Philo was also present when the 76th section of the Doctrine and Covenants was given.  He came in after it had started but he did catch a good part of it.  He didn't, of course, see the visions but he did give an eyewitness account of Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon as they saw the visions.

One time Joseph even asked Philo for advice.

Another time Joseph told Philo to move from where he currently lived or in two weeks he would be dead.  Philo moved.

Philo also wrote a hymn which is still in the hymnals of the LDS Church.

Elder L. Tom Perry's Funeral was last Friday, June 5, 2015.

One of my great-grandmothers was Isabella Livsey.  William Pilkington, Jr., was her brother.  When William was a young man he went to work for the Martin Harris family on their farm.  Martin Harris gave his last dying testimony of the Book of Mormon to William.  Martin Harris was one of the three witnesses to the Book of Mormon.  He also mortgaged part of his farm to help print the Book of Mormon.  Martin handled the plates shown to him and Joseph Smith by Moroni.

When L. Tom Perry was Deacon's Quorum President in his ward he remembers vividly a trip tot he dedication of the Martin Harris grave site in Clarkston, Utah.  Elder Perry often spoke of this event and in 2003 gave a CES Fireside talk to young people about the importance of studying the scriptures.  He has a BYU professor by the name of Lael Woodbury come and play the part of William Pilkington as he told about the story of William working for the Harris family and his experiences with Martin Harris.  Lael nailed it.  William often spoke of his experiences in LDS sacrament meetings.  He even filed a legal affidavit relating the testimony that Martin Harris gave to him.

Every year there is a pageant at the Clarkston Cemetery.  It is called the Martin Harris Pageant.  It tells about the early history of the LDS Church and the coming forth of the Book of Mormon.  William Pilkington is mentioned in this pageant.

Below are some links to some of this information more especially a video of the 2003 CES Fireside.

Continuing Research on Etta Place.

Yesterday I talked to a relative, a nephew, of Etta Place who did not know that this relative was rumored to be Etta Place.  Now he has accepted it wholeheartedly.

The day before I talked to a lady who wrote an article in 1970 for the Price, Utah newspaper about a man, Robert Harvey Longabaugh, who claimed to be the son of the Sundance Kid.  Sometimes he went by the name of Harry Thayne Longabaugh.  This woman wrote more articles for the Price paper that I need to find.

This is in preparation for possibly writing a book.  I feel I still have some research to do before a book would be complete.  I have found Etta Place before South America, but not much after South America.

Etta Place Research

Summary of recent research on Etta Place.  On the 2nd of this month I went to my home town and visited an LDS Family History Library.  I was looking for local history on the family of Etta Place.  One of the workers there is best friends with a family member.  The worker called the family member on the phone and I was able to talk to the family member for about 20 minutes.  We exchanged contact information for contact later.

I was able to meet the family member at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City.  We exchanged information on Etta Place.  She had some important information that I had been looking for.  I had a lot of information as well that they didn't have.  Marriage licenses, census data  and military records included.

I also visited the mother of another family member and exchanged contact information.  That family member just called me the other day and we exchanged information through email.  This is so wonderful that we can do this exchange of information for the people who have died.  We will meet those people after we die.  What a glorious reunion.

I have also contacted some descendants of Etta Place and befriended them on facebook.  I'm waiting for feedback from them.  It has been fun to read their posts on facebook and get to know them in that way.  They post some really good information.  All of this has happened this month.  In my research for the last few months I have found what researchers have been looking for for over 50 years and have not been able to find.

The research for Etta Place has been very rewarding.  One of many hobbies as I have also been doing fantasy baseball, prospecting for gold, tending my granddaughter and other business of life.

Children Learn what They Live, by Dorothy Law Nolte, Ph.D.

A classic.  I recently witnessed a parent forcing their child to do something the child did not want to do.  The child was in tears.  The child was being forced against her will.  The parents were, in essence, taking the child's will away from her.  I love these parents but I did not agree with what they were doing.

I have heard many times that a person must accept responsibility for where they are in life or what they become.  I can agree with this where a person's choices are concerned.  Many times we take a child's choice away from them.  That is wrong and may have lifelong consequences that is not the child's fault.  I hope this child heals and turns out OK.

This poem by Dorothy Law Nolte, Ph.D.  is a classic.  I remember it often.

Children Learn What They LiveBy Dorothy Law Nolte, Ph.D.

If children live with criticism, they learn to condemn.
If children live with hostility, they learn to fight.
If children live with fear, they learn to be apprehensive.
If children live with pity, they learn to feel sorry for themselves.
If children live with ridicule, they learn to feel shy.
If children live with jealousy, they learn to feel envy.
If children live with shame, they learn to feel guilty.
If children live with encouragement, they learn confidence.
If children live with tolerance, they learn patience.
If children live with praise, they learn appreciation.
If children live with acceptance, they learn to love.
If children live with approval, they learn to like themselves.
If children live with recognition, they learn it is good to have a goal.
If children live with sharing, they learn generosity.
If children live with honesty, they learn truthfulness.
If children live with fairness, they learn justice.
If children live with kindness and consideration, they learn respect.
If children live with security, they learn to have faith in themselves and in those about them.
If children live with friendliness, they learn the world is a nice place in which to live.

Kenneth Glyn Hales

My cousin Kenneth Glyn Hales died in the evening of March 7, 2015.  He is said to be 81 years of age.  He was related to Elder Hales who is an Apostle for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Ken would give the genealogy report at the family reunions.  Ken wrote three book about family history.  They were huge books.  Like a good three inches thick.

One of the memories of the Hales family is a car accident that happened near Lovelock, Nevada on August 6, 1954.  The family went to Disneyland and on the way back to Utah were hit by a speeding drunk driver and five of them were killed.  Killed were father and mother Frank and Eugenie Hales, daughter Julie and sons Don and Que.  Nikki Hales was the lone survivor.  Nikki also survives Ken and was at one time a inner city missionary in Salt Lake City for the LDS Church.  Ken was in the Air Force at the time of the accident.  Elva had already married.  Monte, who is now deceased, had also left home.

In the home where grew up was a picture of Frank and Eugenie.  I often saw that picture and my mother often told me of the accident.  Whenever I saw that picture I got the impression that they were in the presence of God.  They went to a far better place despite the very tragic accident that they had here on this planet.  I felt that they did not go to any intermediary place but straight to the presence of god.  They were devout members of their church and Eugenie was the Relief Society President for the 29th Ward.

What a reunion that Ken is having with his parents and all his family members that he has studied and written about.  He had a few lines in his ancestry that were pioneers.  Pulsipher and Burgess just to name a couple.  One of the Pulsiphers baptized Willford Woodruff who was one of the Presidents of the  LDS Church.  What a glorious occasion to be reunited with your parents after sixty and one half years.

Vertical Farming. 44,000 pounds of tomatoes.

http://www.theverge.com/2015/2/26/8112889/vertical-farm-wyoming-hydroponics-grow-food

Vertical Harvest places plants on carousels that keep them moving the length of the greenhouse, giving them equal time in natural light, and also allowing workers to pick and transfer the crops. Using hydroponics, Vertical Harvest will be capable of producing over 37,000 pounds of greens, 4,400 pounds of herbs, and 44,000 pounds of tomatoes. Its founders say that Vertical Harvest's 30 foot by 150 foot plot of land offers the same growing areas as 23 acres of traditional farmland, and has a fraction of the environmental impact, using 90 percent less water and 100 percent fewer pesticides than traditional farming.

This project is a very important experiment. It may or may not turn out to be profitable. But, with drought going on in many parts of the country, new ways of growing produce with less water, fertilizers and other chemicals may be our only salvation. So, don’t be to quick to write this off. As far as heating this greenhouse is concerned, they will probably need to use some kind of gas heater. But the brick building makes and excellent tromb wall that absorbs heat during the day and releases it at night. So, it should be more efficient than a regular greenhouse. I hope they succeed.

I lived at the Scott Amundsen South Pole station in Antarctica for a summer/winter and another summer. For those of you who haven’t heard of it, it’s a US research station that is located at the geographic south pole, atop a 2-mile thick sheet of ice. The average winter temps were around -90 F, with a -150 F windchill. The sun is up for 6 months of the year and gone for the other six months, separated by weeks of one long sunrise and one long sunset. The station is completely isolated for 9 months of the year due to temperatures, no flights in or out, no way to make fresh produce last for 9 months. So they have a hydroponic greenhouse. It’s relatively small in terms of space required but it was insane the volume of leafy greens, cherry tomatoes and cucumbers, edible flowers and fresh herbs that it produced on an extremely limited water supply. To have a big, colorful salad four months into the dark, frozen winter, will make even anti-salad people reconsider their position.

Rare earth mineral reidite found in impact crater in Wisconsin.

http://phys.org/news/2015-01-rare-mineral-wisconsin-crater.html

The rare earth mineral reidite was found in an impact crater in Wisconsin.  It is referred to as the Rock Elm meteorite.

Reidite is created at high pressures and was first identified in the laboratory in the 1960s. The conditions in which reidite forms have been well-constrained by experiments in the lab but, prior to Rock Elm, it was only found naturally in the Chesapeake Bay Impact Structure (Virginia), the Ries Crater (Germany), and the Xiuyan Crater (China).

Health benefits
Garlic is a strong antibiotic with a wide range of health benefits. Unlike chemical antibiotics that kill millions of friendly bacteria your body needs, its only goal is bacteria and microorganisms. Garlic also encourages and increases the level of healthy bacteria. It is a powerful antifungal agent and destroys any antigen, pathogen, and harmful disease-causing microorganisms.
Onion is garlic’s closest relative and it has a similar but milder action. Together they create a strong fighting duo.
Horseradish is a powerful herb, efficient for sinuses and lungs. It opens sinus channels and increases circulation, where common colds and flu usually begin, as most doctors would agree.
Ginger has powerful anti-inflammatory properties and it is a strong circulation stimulant.
Chili peppers are the most powerful circulation stimulators. They just send their antibiotic properties to fight the disease where it is mostly needed.
Turmeric is the most perfect spice, cleanses infections and reduces inflammation. Blocks the development of cancer, and prevents dementia. It is especially useful for those who struggle with joint pain.
Apple cider vinegar – there must be something very healthy in the use of apple cider vinegar as the father of medicine, Hippocrates, used vinegar around 400 BC because of its healthy properties. It is said that he used only two remedies: honey and apple cider vinegar.
Apple cider vinegar is made from fresh and ripe apples which are later fermented and go through rigorous process to give the final product. Apple cider vinegar contains pectin, a fiber that reduces bad cholesterol and regulates blood pressure.
Health experts agree that people need more calcium as they get old. Vinegar helps the extraction of calcium from foods it is mixed with, which helps in the process of maintaining bone strength. Potassium deficiency causes a variety of problems including hair loss, brittle nails and teeth, sinusitis, and runny nose.
Apple cider vinegar is rich in potassium. Studies have shown that potassium deficiency results in slow growth. All of these problems can be avoided if you use apple cider vinegar regularly. Potassium also removes toxic wastes from the body.
Beta-carotene prevents damage caused by free radicals, maintains skin firm and young. Apple cider vinegar is good for those who want to lose weight.
It breaks up fat which supports a natural weight loss process. Apple cider vinegar contains malic acid, efficient in the fight against fungal and bacterial infections. This acid dissolves uric acid deposits that form around the joints, and thus alleviates joint pain. Dissolved uric acid is later eliminated from the body.
It is believed that apple cider vinegar is useful in treating conditions like constipation, headaches, arthritis, weak bones, indigestion, high cholesterol, diarrhea, eczema, sore eyes, chronic fatigue, mild food poisoning, hair loss, high blood pressure, obesity, and many other health problems.
The master tonic is the best combination to fight each of these conditions. Protect your health using natural antibiotics!
